Other ways to help save lives

IF YOU LIVE IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA:

Contact your local hospital’s emergency room supervisor and find out if they have implemented the new law (Senate bill 1368). Ask if they have a set of procedures in place. If they don’t, contact CAIF with the name and address of the hospital, and we will arrange to have an information packet sent.

Contact your local media—television and radio stations, newspapers, local magazines. There is a Public Service Announcement packet that can be sent to them to inform women in your community about this life-saving new law. The PSA is available in English and Spanish.

Contact your local public and private schools—junior high through college—and ask them to consider sharing the educational video that is available to be used with students who are learning about teen pregnancy and other important life issues. CAIF can arrange to send copies of the video along with brochures and posters.

IF YOU LIVE IN ANOTHER STATE:

Contact your State Senator, Assemblyperson or Representative to see if your state has a law protecting newborns by decriminalizing safe abandonment, or if it is somewhere in the legislative process.
